What, though, if you have muted a thread by mistake in Gmail, or muted to soon? Fortunately, unmuting any conversation — and having new messages appear in the inbox again — is just as easy.
Unmute a Conversation in Gmail
To unmute a conversation in Gmail and have future messages appear in your Gmail inbox again:
- Open or check the desired conversation (or conversations).
- You can use Gmail search to find it. Use "is:muted" as a search term to find all muted conversations; you can combine "is:muted" with your search terms and other search operators, of course.
- Click More.
- Select Unmute from the menu.
- Now, you can archive the conversation from your inbox, of course; new emails in the thread will pop up in your Gmail inbox.
