Gmail SmartLabels' automaticity does not mean you have no control, of course. You can remove any labels, and you can submit messages for analysis to improve the filters' accuracy.
Teach Gmail SmartLabels Filtering
To have a Gmail engineer look at a message classified wrongly by SmartLabels and adjust the filtering:
- Make sure you are comfortable with an engineer (not just a computer system) looking at the message you found mis-categorized.
- You can add and remove the labels used by SmartLabels to organize mail without reporting.
- Click the down arrow next to Reply for the message Gmail classified wrongly.
- Select Report Miscategorization from the menu that comes up.
- Select the desired SmartLabels category under Correct category:.
- If you want Gmail to apply no automatic label to similar messages, select None under Correct category:.
- Click Report Miscategorization.
You can also configure the filters acting on the SmartLabels categories.
