People with whom you correspond regularly automatically show up in the Quick Contacts panel. From there, you can start a new email message or chat with a single click.
Of course, you can also make the cut of who does and does not appear in your Gmail Quick Contacts manually. A little gray, green, orange or red ball indicates whether a contact is offline, online, away or busy.
