The Bottom Line
It's easy to find related messages, sending yourself tasks is particularly simple, and GTDGmail contains many shortcuts — but fails to make use of the keyboard and clutters Gmail a bit.
- GTDInbox implements David Allen's "Getting Things Done" in Gmail as a Firefox Extension
- Every email is a task; you can easily assign and change status, contexts and projects
- GTDInbox has many shortcuts to handy screens and makes searching easy
- GTDInbox makes no use of keyboard shortcuts and could be cleaner
- Certain data is stored locally, and full GTDInbox is not available across machines
- Auto-completion of projects and contexts would be nice, as might be intelligent auto-labeling

Guide Review - GTDInbox 2.0 - Gmail Productivity Mozilla Firefox Extension
GTDInbox adds convenience and automation. A setup guide walks you through creating the suggested labels (for status, contexts and projects), and filters make Gmail apply status automatically. Using single-click actions, GTDInbox lets you change the status of any message easily, and assigning or removing contexts and projects is just as simple.
For better orientation, GTDInbox replaces the stock Gmail label box with its own, more organized version. Another way to find the next action is GTDInbox search, which not only makes it easy to combine status and contexts but lets you find, in a new window, related messages, for example. GTDInbox comes with pre-set searches for reviewing outstanding tasks, of course.
One of the most useful GTDInbox tweaks are two special mail sending screens: cleanly, they let you send yourself a task or reference. In mail to self or to collaborators using GTDInbox, you can pre-label and have categories applied automatically when the email arrives.
Unfortunately, GTDInbox makes no use of the keyboard. Shortcuts for common actions and auto-completion of project names, for example, would be great. GTDInbox, though documented reasonably well, can also be a tad confusing and unintuitive at first.
