Guide Review - Find Big Mail - Gmail Message Size Analysis
Usually, it's the fleeting attachments that cost dearly, lost somewhere in the archive — crowded as it is with emails by the thousand. That Gmail offers no way to sort mail by size, or just to see their dimensions, doesn't help.
Find Big Mail does, though. It will not strictly sort your messages by size either, but Find Big Mail does group them by size: up to roughly 100 KB, 100-500 KB ("Big Mail"), 500 KB to 2 MB ("Really Big Mail") and larger than that ("Ultra Big Mail").
You can find the big messages labelled accordingly in Gmail, where you can also delete the biggest offenders — after saving the attached files locally, of course. To keep the messages and strip just the attachments, you still have to set up Gmail in a capable desktop email program. If Find Big Mail could do that job, it would be even more helpful.
In addition to labeling big mail, Find Big Mail also sends (by average or small email) a makeup of your Gmail account including neat pie charts that show in green, yellow and red how many of your emails are really big — and, in an 80/20 analysis, how their number relates to the space they occupy.
It would be nice, of course, if Find Big Mail would support other email services as well.
