ShinyFeet - Free Email Service

ShinyFeet - Free Email Service

Heinz Tschabitscher

The Bottom Line

ShinyFeet not only gives you unlimited space for all your emails for free, you also get a rich web-based interface and a highly capable spam filter. Unfortunately, ShinyFeet lacks a bit in email management features, does not offer IMAP access and its interface is a bit complicated and nervous with ads updating too often.
In addition, ShinyFeet is currently not available.

Pros

  • ShinyFeet gives you unlimited storage space for emails and files
  • An easily personalized Bayesian spam filter keeps the junk out of your ShinyFeet Inbox
  • ShinyFeet includes an HTML message editor and lets you store files (attachments) online, too

Cons

  • ShinyFeet does not offer IMAP or POP access, requires you to log on every ten days
  • The interface, though rich in functionality, is also a bit bulky, inelegant and nervous
  • ShinyFeet does not thread messages and offers no message labels or smart folders

Guide Review - ShinyFeet - Free Email Service

I cannot talk about others, but unlimited email storage space did not make my feet shine. It did make my mouth smile, my eyes glare and my hand sore from clicking the move-to-archive-folder button, though.

ShinyFeet gives you the nice feeling of keeping emails without regret and without having to worry about moving all your messages should you ever reach the 1, 2, 4 or 7 GB limit of your email account — provided that ShinyFeet's business model with non-targeted ads that update a tad too often and appear inside messages works.

Space is not all ShinyFeet has to offer, though. You also get very effective BayesSpam junk mail protection after you have classified a few messages to train the filter. In Internet Explorer, ShinyFeet offers HTML editing, simple filters move or color-code messages based on certain criteria, and ShinyFeet can be customized with numerous options.

Unfortunately, there is no "make ShinyFeet a bit cleaner and neater" option. ShinyFeet also lacks the tools to manage all the space you get. You can flag mail and search it with so-so results, even save the search criteria for later, but ShinyFeet does not thread mail automatically, you cannot create custom labels and smart folders do not exist either.

IMAP access, which could allow your email program to take overs some of these tasks, is (understandably) not available, and neither is POP access. Still, unlimited free space for emails is not that bad a deal, and you get photo galleries and file storage, too.
