Why Plain Text Never Fails
Unless you are certain the recipient welcomes richly formatted emails, it is prudent to use just plain text in your messages. In FastMail, this is remarkably easy.
Send a Message in Plain Text from FastMail
To send a message that uses plain text only from FastMail:
- Follow the Compose link in the top FastMail navigation bar.
- If you see a formatting toolbar, click Edit as text.
- If you have the advanced version of the FastMail compose screen enabled and see a formatting toolbar, choose Text from the HTML drop-down menu right of the message headers (To, Subject, etc.).
- You can choose Edit as text even after you have already begun typing. Your text will be preserved. If you have added hyperlinks, these will be retained as references.
Making Plain Text Look Good
Of course, FastMail automatically formats the plain text messages perfectly for you. You can even have it re-format messages quoted in your replies in an equally pleasing manner.
