How to Check the Spelling Only Upon Request in Eudora

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

The spell checker built into Eudora is a great tool, and usually the way Eudora checks your spelling as you type is great, too.

But if you use lots of slang or a completely different language, having every second word highlighted and marked red (can you feel how difficult it is for Eudora to refrain from saying: "learn to spell before you write an email"?) can be annoying.

Fortunately, spell checking as you type can be turned off in Eudora:

  • Select Tools | Options... (Windows) or Special | Settings... (Mac) from the Eudora menu.
  • Go to the Spell Checking category.
  • Make sure Only when requested is selected.
  • Click OK.
