How to Filter Mail by Sender Automatically in Aliencamel

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com Guide

Aliencamel filters spam out in a refined and highly effective manner. To do that, it identifies the good senders and sorts them from the bad. All right, you know and enjoy that.

But did you know that Aliencamel can use its power to identify senders for sorting your mail right at the server, too? You can make all newsletters go to a certain folder, for example, or move mail from your best friends go to an urgent folder right away.

Since filing mail that way in Aliencamel relies on server-side folders, you need a way to access these folders (that are not your Inbox). If you use either IMAP or Aliencamel's web-based interface to read mail, you're fine.

If you use POP access exclusively, however, you should not filter mail at the server side because instead of being easier to find, filtered messages will escape you entirely. POP only gets you the messages in your Aliencamel Inbox.
