How to Filter a Folder's Messages To Suit Your Needs in AIM Mail or AOL Mail

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

Unread mail and read messages, all intermingled! Some replied, some flagged, what chaos!

If your AIM Mail or AOL Mail Inbox (or any other folder) has become a curious collection of all sorts of messages and you want to see just one sort, help is near. With two clicks, you can see only mail you have not yet answered, for example, or all unread messages.

Filter a Folder's Messages To Suit Your Needs in AIM Mail or AOL Mail

To see only certain types of mail in an AIM Mail or AOL Mail folder:

  • Click the View drop-down menu on top of the message list, to the right.
  • Select Unread, Read, Flagged, Unflagged, Answered or Unanswered.

To return to viewing all mail, select All Messages from the same View menu.

AIM Mail and AOL Mail do not remember your View menu choice. If you switch to a folder, it will always show all messages.
