AIM Mail IMAP and SMTP Settings

You'll need them to access AIM Mail through an email client

AIM Mail is the web-based email service provided by AOL. The service is free as is an AOL email address. You don't have to be an AOL member to use AIM Mail. AIM Mail strongly encourages users to email through its own web interface. But you can set up an email client to retrieve and send your AIM Mail messages.

AIM Mail IMAP Settings

Before you set up an email client to use your AIM Mail account, get the Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) server settings. If you set up an email client and can't receive AIM Mail, check the settings.

The AIM Mail IMAP server settings used to access AIM Mail messages and folders through any email client are:

  • AIM Mail IMAP server address: imap.aim.com
  • AIM Mail IMAP username: Your full AIM Mail email address (such as example@aim.com)
  • AIM Mail IMAP password: Your AIM Mail password
  • AIM Mail IMAP port: 993
  • AIM Mail IMAP TLS/SSL required: yes

You could alternatively use AIM Mail POP access. If you have a POP account, the settings are slightly different from those shown above.

AIM Mail SMTP Server Settings

When you set up an email client to receive mail using IMAP, you'll also provide the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) settings to send mail. They are as follows for AIM Mail:

  • AIM Mail SMTP server address: smtp.aim.com
  • AIM Mail SMTP username: Your full AIM Mail email address (such as example@aim.com)
  • AIM Mail SMTP password: Your AIM Mail password
  • AIM Mail SMTP port: 587
  • AIM Mail SMTP TLS/SSL required: yes
