Relying on years and years of habit and training, you expected MailMate to open the message in a separate window, of course, when you clicked on it twice in rapid succession. Inexplicably, MailMate embarked on a search and journey of sorts.
Fortunately, you can set up MailMate to perform the action you most expect for double-clicking an email: opening it in its own window, not searching for related messages.
Make Double-Clicks Open Messages in MailMate
To have MailMate open messages when you double-click them (instead of embarking on a search for related emails):
- Select MailMate | Preferences… from the menu in MailMate.
- Go to the General tab.
- Make sure Double-click opens a message in a new window is selected under Viewing:.
- Close the General options window.
To search for related messages, you can hold down the Shift key while double-clicking a message.
