Current Results

What you can do is set your email security zone to "Trusted Sites" (on the "Security" tab in the "Options" dialog) and then turn off cookies for this zone in Internet Explorer. This won't allow sites you access from your email client to set cookies.

You can also turn off automatic image display in Internet Explorer, but this will not prevent all image return receipts (it does not work for images served via FTP, for example).
