Encrypting and Signing
We start with a new message in Messenger. Since there's no point in enciphering virginity (cryptic enough already), we type something. (The French tongue twisters are from the 1st International Collection of Tongue Twisters, where you can find many more tongue twisters in many more languages.)

To encrypt the text in the message body, we make sure that the cursor is in this window (and not, for example, in the "Subject" field or in the ICQ message (nana!)). Then we click on the PGPtray icon, select "Current Window" and then "Encrypt"
This brings up the key selection dialog. Here, we select the recipient(s) of our message. Only those selected here will be able to decrypt the garbage we send them. PGP does the rest.

We may want to sign the message as well (this is certainly a good idea). To do so, we select "Encrypt & Sign" instead of merely "Encrypt" before. To sign a message, we need our secret key and to use our secret key PGP needs our secret passphrase.
Thus, PGP shows a dialog where we can select the key we want to use for signing the message. In the same dialog, we also anxiously (nobody looking?) type the passphrase for the selected key. PGP does the rest.

To only sign but not encrypt a message, use "Sign".
