Source Tracking Tools
In part 3 of our spam series we inspected some of the email headers and how they can help us to find out where the spam came from.
What we got was a mere IP address: 195.3.64.67. Not bad, but not much either.
Now let's see what tools can help us to turn that IP address into viable contact information; contact information where we can eventually send a letter of complaint. (Yes, I can see your eyes grow wider.)
But now let's get down to the ugly basics and begin with traceroute, a very useful tool used almost always when trying to locate a spammer.
