What Email Signatures Are For
Email signatures are great not big, just great. You can put some basic contact information in your Windows Mail or Outlook Express signature, but it can also contain a witty quotation or some marketing speak.
In Windows Mail or Outlook Express, you can have multiple signatures (one for work mail and one for private messages, for example). Fortunately, creating signatures is easy.
Create a Signature in Windows Mail or Outlook Express
To set up your email signature in Windows Mail or Outlook Express:
- Select Tools | Options... from the menu in Windows Mail or Outlook Express.
- Go to the Signatures tab.
- Click New.
- Type the text of your signature under Edit Signature.
- Try to limit your signature to 4-5 lines of text, and
- possibly use the standard signature delimiter.
- This field is for plain text only, but you can also enrich your signature with HTML formatting.
- Click OK.
Using Your New Windows Mail or Outlook Express Signature
If you create more than one signature, make sure you specify the one you want to be inserted in new messages by default, or choose and insert the appropriate signature manually.
Even better, you can also specify default signatures for individual accounts.
