Glossary>
Definition:
A user has subscribed for a newsletter or other email marketing messages by explicitly requesting it. This may happen via email by filling a form on the Web, for example.
Contrary to double opt-in, email addresses submitted to the list are not verified. This makes it possible to sign up somebody without their knowledge and consent.
