KnockKnock - Spam Filter

The Bottom Line

KnockKnock bans spam by requiring senders to be approved, and by using statistical filtering. It is not, however, particularly easy to use and getting rid of spam with KnockKnock requires some effort.
Pros
  • KnockKnock includes statistics-based filters
  • Can be quite effective against spam
Cons
  • KnockKnock is not particularly easy to use
  • Supports POP accounts only

Description

  • KnockKnock filters multiple POP accounts for spam.
  • KnockKnock works as a POP proxy between your email client and the server.
  • Senders fall into three categories in KnockKnock: approved, pending, and denied.
  • If you don't approve or deny a pending sender, it is automatically denied after a certain time.
  • KnockKnock lets you preview mail directly at the server.
  • Using statistical analysis, KnockKnock can decide whether to automatically approve or deny mail.
  • Senders in the pending category can be sent a message explaining that you need to approve them.
  • KnockKnock supports Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP.

Guide Review - KnockKnock 2.63 - Spam Filter

KnockKnock! Is it spam, or is it good mail? KnockKnock relies on screening mail by sender (and, optionally, by subject) to decide. Only mail from approved senders gets through to your Inbox.

While KnockKnock does not annoy new senders with requiring them to authorize (they can't), it optionally sends them an email explaining the situation: you have to manually approve them for their message to get through. This is easiest done by sending them an email, but authorizing or banning senders manually isn't difficult either.

KnockKnock can help you with the decision by using statistical analysis to figure out which senders you'll be likely to want mail from, and which mail you'd rather not see in your Inbox.
