The Bottom Line

InBox Filter boasts a nice interface and is easy to use, but its filters, though flexible and updated frequently, lack a bit of power. InBox Filter is no longer available.
Pros
  • InBox Filter automates deleting (some) spam
  • Easy to use
  • Online filter updates
Cons
  • InBox Filter has only simple text filters
  • No scoring or statistics
  • POP accounts only

Description

  • InBox Filter checks multiple POP accounts for spam periodically and can automatically delete it.
  • Text filters based on all message parts can be set up easily.
  • Updated filters are available for download directly from within InBox Filter.
  • InBox Filter allows you to preview and manually delete messages.
  • Set up a white list of senders whose messages are never spam.
  • InBox Filter supports Windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/XP.

Guide Review - InBox Filter 2.1 - Spam Filter

Deleting spam directly on the server is certainly a good idea. With its support for multiple POP accounts, flexible filter that can be updated online, an easy to use interface and one-button spam deletion, InBox Filter is well suited for that job.

Unfortunately, InBox Filter relies on plain text filters and cannot combine multiple conditions in a scoring system. But it is easy to preview and manually delete messages directly at the server with InBox Filter, and just as easy to set up additional custom filters.

Although InBox Filter is easy to use, the lack of context menus can be confusing, and the interface could need some polishing, just like the documentation.
