Guide Review - Safe E-Mail Links Scout 1.0 - Email Address Encoding Tool

If you put your email address on a web site, you also put it at risk. Spammers employ dedicated robots to mine the net for email addresses. Fortunately, these programs are often not very sophisticated and you can protect your address by encoding it.

Safe E-Mail Links Scout is a small and easy to use tool that uses JavaScript to encode your email address in a mailto: link. While the enciphering could be more complex, for the time being it is probably enough to fool the spammers. Safe E-Mail Links Scout lets you even include a fake address for the harvesting robots to pick up.

What you cannot specify, unfortunately, is a default subject or body for the mailto: link.
