If you prefer a human voice waking you to the buzzing sound of an alarm clock, you may prefer Merlin or another of the animated MS Agent characters announcing new mail to you over the usual ding-dong of the classic mail checker.
PhleXss MailCheck provides this gimmick. The characters can even read the message's sender and subject. Unfortunately, PhleXss MailCheck lacks some other features that make mail checkers so useful. While MailCheck gives you a preview of new messages, there's no way to delete them or to use filters for automating that task.
PhleXss MailCheck is also limited to checking POP and MAPI accounts. The Agent announcements can be nice, though.
