How to Filter Yahoo! Mail Spam to a Special Folder in The Bat!

By , About.com Guide

Accessing Yahoo! Mail with The Bat! is great. But have you noticed that Yahoo! Mail also sends you all the spam that would normally go to the Bulk Mail folder automatically?

Here's help. You can either disable downloading messages from the Yahoo! Mail Bulk Mail folder completely or use The Bat!'s filtering capabilities to mimic this Bulk Mail folder locally by moving spam to a special folder automatically.

Filter Yahoo! Mail Spam to a Special Folder in The Bat!

To make The Bat! route Yahoo! Mail spam to a special "Bulk Mail" folder:

  • Go to your Yahoo! Mail account in The Bat!.
  • Select Account | Sorting Office/Filters from the menu.
  • Make sure Incoming mail is highlighted.
  • Click New.
  • Give the new rule a name (something like "Yahoo! Bulk Mail", for example).
  • Under Move messages to folder, select or create and select your "Junk Mail" folder.
  • Under Filtering strings, enter "X-YahooFilteredBulk" (without quotes) under Strings in the first line.
  • Make sure Kludges is selected under Location.
  • Click Add.
  • Click Close.
