Connect and Disconnect Automatically with The Bat!

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

Not everybody can be online 24 hours a day. Especially when you are billed by the time you are connected it literally pays to only connect when you have to and disconnect as quickly as possible.

The Bat! can do this for you. It connects when it is checking for new incoming messages and closes the connection when it has finished.

To configure The Bat! to connect and disconnect automatically:

  • Select Options | Network & Administration from the menu in The Bat!.
  • Select Dial-up networking connection.
  • Make sure Auto-disconnect after mail transmission is enabled.
  • Click OK.
