Make Sure McAfee SpamKiller Doesn't Filter Newsletters as Spam

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

McAfee SpamKiller comes with tons of rules that catch tons of spam. Since no rule is perfect they catch innocent mail now and then, too.

To make sure this does not happen to your favorite newsletters, you can add their senders to the list of Friends. Mail from these senders will never be treated like spam by McAfee SpamKiller.

It's a good idea, for example, to add "about.com" to the Friends list if you sign up to any About newsletters.

To make sure McAfee SpamKiller doesn't filter your newsletters as spam:

  • Select Friends from the McAfee SpamKiller sidebar.
  • Click Add a friend.
  • Make sure All users at a domain is selected under Friend type:.
  • Type the domain name you want to whitelist under Address:.
    • To whitelist all About newsletters, type "about.com", for example.
  • Optionally, enter a name that helps you recognize the domain under Name:.
  • Click OK.
