How to Add a Sender to the Friends List in MailShield Desktop

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com Guide

Lyris MailShield Desktop is quite smart about figuring out what is spam and what is not, but you can still help it avoid mistakes by putting known senders' email addresses on the "friends list", a white list of senders whose messages are never marked (let alone deleted) as spam.

You might use the friends list to protect your favorite newsletters from being treated like spam in particular. I have, for example, added "about.com" to the list to ensure I'll always get all my About newsletters.

Add a Sender to the Friends List in MailShield Desktop

To add a sender to the friends list in MailShield Desktop:

  • Select Friends from the toolbar in MailShield Desktop.
  • Click Add.
  • Type the email address or domain name you want to whitelist.
    • To whitelist all About newsletters enter "@about.com".
  • Click OK.
