Reporting Facebook Message as Spam

How to report spam in a chat in Facebook Messenger

You see a lot on Facebook: notifications, news, messages from friends, and posts of all sorts. You won't see too much spam on Facebook, however. When you do come across the occasional junk message, you can report it to help improve Facebook's spam filter. Marking a message as spam also removes the offending message from your Facebook Messenger inbox.

View Messages Labeled as Spam

Since Facebook usually identifies most spam messages as soon as they are sent to you, there is a good chance that you will never see any spam that you've received. If you want to view the messages that Facebook considers spam, and recover a message that you accidentally labeled as spam, you'll need to navigate to the Spam folder in Facebook Messenger.

  1. Open Facebook Messenger, and tap your profile picture in the upper-left corner.

  2. Tap Message Requests.

  3. Select Spam. You will see all of the messages that you and Facebook have identified as spam.
