ZIP Scrippy Stationery You Share

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

The best part of creating stationery with Scrippy is sharing it with others. Sending the stationery file and the necessary images and sound files individually works, but neither is it elegant nor very practical.

ZIP files are much more convenient. They can contain several files and come with the additional bonus of compressing these files.

To pack stationery you create with Scrippy in a ZIP file:

  • Make sure all necessary files are in the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery" folder.

If you use Windows ME, XP or later, creating the ZIP file is easy:

  • Open the folder in a Windows Explorer window
  • Right-click in it.
  • Select New | Compressed (zipped) Folder from the context menu.
  • Drag and drop all necessary files for your stationery (the HTML file, images and sounds) on the folder.
  • Give the zip folder a meaningful name

and it's ready to be sent to friends via email or to be put on a Web site for download.

If you are using a version of Windows that does not have support for ZIP files,

  • use a utility like WinZip or 7-Zip to create the ZIP file.

It's best not to include path info when compressing your stationery and tell people to uncompress into the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Stationery" folder instead.
