Understanding "Buckets" in POPFile

In your email program, you probably use folders to organize your messages.

POPFile is a smart tool that can organize incoming mail automatically for you. It looks at the content of each message and decides which folder to put it in — but its folders are called "buckets".

For a simple setup, you could have four buckets: "work" for work-related mail, "personal" for mail from family and friends, "newsletter" for all kinds of newsletters and "spam" for junk mail. You can, of course, go into further detail and create buckets for certain topics, mailing lists, groups of people or even projects.

If you set up many, fine-grained buckets, be aware that it will get increasingly difficult for POPFile to classify mail correctly. Consequently, it will take longer and more messages until POPFile gets it right every time.
