Under Windows, POPFile places a nice and useful icon in the system tray, and you can have it open a console for debugging output, too.

But if you need the latter and don't use the former, you can also hide POPFile from the surface of Windows completely and have it hum along in the background silently (but no less efficiently).
To hide POPFile on Windows:
- Open the POPFile user interface in your browser.
- Go to the Advanced page.
- Make sure both
- windows_console and
- windows_trayicon
- Click Update.
