Compose Replies Efficiently with the PocoMail Quote Bar

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

If you reply to an email message, it's best to quote the original text so it is clear what you are replying to -- but you should also quote as little as possible to make your message easy to read.

In many email clients, this eclectic approach to quoting isn't trivial and often requires a lot of manual editing. PocoMail makes it easy to compose replies that are in tip-top shape. You can have PocoMail insert the complete text of the original message automatically and then delete those parts that are not essential. But PocoMail also offers another smart and efficient approach to quoting: the Quote Bar.

Using the PocoMail Quote Bar, you can selectively quote text from the original message as you need it. To make full use of this, you should first turn off automatic quoting:

  • Select Tools | Options... from the PocoMail menu.
  • Go to the Sending Mail | Quoting Text category.
  • Make sure Quote text when replying is not checked.
  • Click OK.

Now, to compose replies efficiently whit the PocoMail Quote Bar:

  • Click on the divider button between header and body area while composing a reply in PocoMail.
  • Highlight the text you want to quote using the mouse in the Quote Bar.
  • Enter your reply text as usual in the message body.
