How to Prevent Pegasus Mail from Emptying the Trash Automatically

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

When you delete a message, Pegasus Mail can move it to the Deleted Messages folder instead of deleting it immediately.

Pegasus Mail Empties the Trash When You Exit

That's a great way to prevent losing mail due to a mistake. By default, Pegasus Mail empties the Deleted Messages folder when you exit the program.

To take the concept of the Pegasus Mail trash and its prevention of erroneous message deletions even further, you can prevent Pegasus Mail from doing that. Pegasus Mail will then leave the messages in the Deleted Messages folder on their own. You can recover or completely remove them whenever you like.

Prevent Pegasus Mail from Emptying the Trash Automatically

To prevent Pegasus Mail from emptying the Deleted Messages folder automatically upon exit:

  • Select Tools | Options... from the menu in Pegasus Mail.
  • Go to the General settings | Advanced settings category.
  • Make sure 'Deleted messages' folder persists between sessions is selected.
  • Click OK.
