How to Send a Message in Plain Text with Windows Mail or Outlook Express

Emails with rich HTML formatting are fine and fancy, but sometimes somebody gets them as fancy rubbish and no text. Or, maybe, you want to celebrate existentialist simplicity by sending mail in plain text only with Windows Mail or Outlook Express.

In Windows Mail and Outlook Express, sending a plain text email is easy even if your are composing HTML messages by default.

Send a Message in Plain Text with Windows Mail or Outlook Express

To send a plain text email from Windows Mail or Outlook Express:

  • Select Format | Plain Text from the menu while composing your message (or even before you start writing).

If you prefer plain text messages in general, you can make plain text messages the default in Windows Mail or Outlook Express, too.
