Request Read Receipt for a Message in Windows Mail or Outlook Express
To request a read receipt for an individual message in Windows Mail or Outlook Express:
- Select Tools from the message's menu.
- Make sure Request Read Receipt is checked.
When the recipient of the message opens it, she is asked to notify you that she has opened and read the mail.

You can also make read receipts a default option in Windows Mail or Outlook Express, so that it does automatically request a receipt for every message you send.
