How to Use Your Business Card (vCard) in Windows Mail or Outlook Express

By , About.com Guide

The vCard that you have created for yourself in Windows Mail or Outlook Express makes little sense if you do not send it with your emails.

So you create a new message, select Insert from the Outlook Express menu only to find that Business Card is grayed out and not available. Why's that?

Use Your Business Card (vCard) in Windows Mail or Outlook Express

Windows Mail and Outlook Express do not know by themselves which of all the entries in your address book is your own vCard. You have to tell Windows Mail or Outlook Express before you can attach your vCard to email messages:

  • Select Tools | Options from the menu in Windows Mail or Outlook Express.
  • Go to the Compose tab.
  • Make sure the check box next to Mail: under Business Card is enabled.
  • Select your name in the drop-down list to the right.
  • Click OK.

Now your vCard is appended to all outgoing emails automatically by Windows Mail or Outlook Express.
