How to Print an Email in Windows Mail or Outlook Express

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

It is anachronistic and antagonistic, but sometimes it makes sense to print emails.

In Windows Mail and Outlook Express, printing an email message is a lot easier than writing a properly formatted reply.

Print an Email in Windows Mail or Outlook Express

To print a message from Windows Mail or Outlook Express:

  • Highlight the message you want to print in its mailbox.
    • Unfortunately, you cannot select and print multiple messages at once.
  • Click the Print toolbar button.
    • Alternatively, select File | Print... from the menu or
    • hit Ctrl-P.
  • Adjust any printer settings you deem necessary.
  • Click Print.

Tweak Windows Mail or Outlook Express Printing Parameters

If you tweak the print settings in Internet Explorer a bit, you can use a larger font for printing, adjust printer margins or even print emails including their background images.
