The Bottom Line

MozBackup backs up your Mozilla Thunderbird and Mozilla SeaMonkey profiles — including, most importantly, all your emails and address book entries — reliably, and restoring is easy. Unfortunately, scheduling MozBackup is not.

Pros

  • Using a step by step wizard, MozBackup is easy to use

Cons

  • MozBackup cannot be scheduled easily
  • Backups created with MozBackup cannot be compressed

Description

  • MozBackup lets you back up and restore profiles from Mozilla Thunderbird and other Mozilla apps.
  • MozBackup backups can include settings, emails, the address book, bookmarks, cookies and more.
  • Backup and restoration happen via a step by step wizard in MozBackup.
  • MozBackup supports windows 9x/ME/NT/2000/3/XP.

Guide Review - MozBackup 1.4.7 - Mozilla Thunderbird Backup Tool

If you use Mozilla Firefox to browse the web and Mozilla Thunderbird read news, write and archive mail, store your passwords as well as your contacts, a whole lot of your life is stored in the Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird profiles.

To back up all this vital data for a case of emergency, you just have to copy your profiles' directories to a backup location. Or you take the much faster, more comfortable and flexible route and use MozBackup.

You can define flexibly which parts of your profile you want to include (even extensions are supported) in MozBackup, the resulting backup is just one file, and restoring from the backup is easy.

Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to schedule regular backups with MozBackup.

Mozbackup is pretty good and it is easy to use, Member mjnelson99

I have both laptop and desktop computers and like to keep emails updated on both. Mozbackup helps me do that. The glitch is that it brings back removed email accounts, removes updated more recent email accounts and SMTP servers so each backup must be edited rather extensively, especially since I just changed ISP's so it is rather a pain. I won't be updating between the 2 computers that often right now. I do create a moxbackup file nightly just in case of computer problems. Nice to have on hand.
