How to Use Incoming Mail Filters in MSN Explorer

By , About.com Guide

One of the most essentials capabilities of an email client is mail filtering to automatically put incoming mail in appropriate folders.

MSN Explorer has this ability, but no obvious way to access it. There is no place within MSN Explorer where you can set up or edit message filters. Since MSN Explorer's Email is but a front-end to Hotmail, however, you can employ Hotmail's filtering engine and interface.

Use Incoming Mail Filters in MSN Explorer

To use incoming mail filters in MSN Explorer:

  • Go to the Hotmail home page.
  • Select Options.
  • Follow the Filters link under Mail Handling.

There, you can set up a maximum of ten filters that will affect your incoming Hotmail messages, no matter if you access them through Hotmail or MSN Explorer.
