How to Insert a Link in a Message in Mozilla Thunderbird or Netscape

If you compose your email messages using HTML in Mozilla Thunderbird, Netscape or Mozilla (and I think you should), there's a comfortable way to insert a link — an underlined link like those you're using on the Web every three seconds (approximately).

To insert a link in an email in Mozilla Thunderbird or Netscape:

• Hit Ctrl-L.
• Enter the text you want to be linked (like "Kantian ethics" if you're linking to a paper on Kantian ethics).
• Press Tab.
• Enter the URL.
  • It's easiest to open the page in a browser window or tab, copy the URL from the address bar and paste it here.
• Click OK.

Alternatively, you can also highlight existing text in your message and only then use the Ctrl-L shortcut key. Then you merely have to enter the URL.
