How to Add Bcc Recipients in Mac OS X Mail

In the Bcc: header field, you can add recipients who will get a blind carbon copy. The other recipients of your message will not know that it also got delivered to Bcc recipients.

If you start composing a new message in Mac OS X Mail, there is no Bcc: field. By default, Mac OS X Mail only shows the To: and Cc: address fields.

Add Bcc Recipients in Mac OS X Mail

To send a message to Bcc: recipients in Mac OS X Mail:

  • Select View | Bcc Address Field from the menu to make sure the menu item is checked.
    • Alternatively, press Command-Alt-B.
  • Type the Bcc recipient's email address in the Bcc: field.

To add Bcc recipients in Mac OS X Mail 1.x:

  • Select Edit | Add Bcc Header from the Mac OS X Mail menu.
    • Alternatively, hit Command-Shift-B.
  • Type the Bcc recipient's email address in the Bcc: field.
