How to Empty the Deleted Messages Folder Quickly in Mac OS X Mail

Mac OS X Mail doesn't immediately purge a message when you use the Delete button. Instead, trashed messages are collected in a special folder called — Trash.

This is a great safety net, but eventually you should empty that trash to recover the disk space used by them.

A fast way to empty the Deleted Messages folder in Mac OS X Mail is via the keyboard:

  • Press Command-K.
  • Click OK.
