- Messages can be personalized using any database field (and conditional text).
- By including the output of command line apps in the body you can further individualize messages.
- SerialMailer includes a simple database editor and the message editor uses the OS X spell checker.
- The editor, though simple, supports essential HTML text formatting and knows multipart/alternative.
- You can preview messages in SerialMailer before delivery.
- SerialMailer supports Mac OS X 10.3+.
SerialMailer grabs its list from a database (a — crude — database editor is included) and the message from a text or HTML file (a — crude — message editor is included), merges the two, and delivers the personalized messages through Mac OS X Mail or an internal SMTP engine.
Simple, but it works, and the option to include command line tool output in the message body adds further possibilities. You can even get a preview of the emails before sending.
Unfortunately, SerialMailer lacks more refined features like database write-back or integrated scripting. You can insert conditional text, though, and all in all SerialMailer is a great basic tool to deliver flexibly personalized mailing.
