Balsa supports all of the popular mailbox formats, can send mail through sendmail or any SMTP server and fetch it via POP or access it through IMAP. Flexible filters allow you to sort mail based on flexible criteria (including regular expressions).
The Balsa message editor is simple, but great for composing clean and properly formatted plain text messages (though there are some unfortunate and irritating goofs when it comes to reflowing quoted text).
Unfortunately, Balsa does not offer message templates or labels to organize emails easily.
