Delete a Message Bypassing the Trash in KMail

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

The trash folder is a very useful feature in KMail. It allows for accidentally deleted messages to be recovered. I use it often.

But some messages I want to get rid of with no chance of (easy) recovery, and immediately. Fortunately, KMail provides a way to do that, too.

To delete a message bypassing the trash folder in KMail:

  • Open the message or highlight it in the KMail message list.
  • Press Shift-Del.
  • Answer the confirmatory sanity check by clicking Delete.
