How to Protect Your IncrediMail Identity with a Password

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

Emails are a sensitive and personal matter. I don't want to read yours, and I don't want you to read mine (and send replies in my name...).

Fortunately, IncrediMail allows me to protect my Identity with a password for some security. The emails are still stored in plain text on the hard disk, so they can still be accessed with some sophistication. It's not as easy as starting IncrediMail any more, though.

Protect Your IncrediMail Identity with a Password

To protect your IncrediMail identity with a password:

  • Select File | Identities | Manage Identities... from the menu in IncrediMail.
  • Highlight the desired identity.
  • Click Properties.
  • Type your new password under both Password: and Confirm Password:.
  • Click OK.
  • Make sure Choose an Identity on startup is checked.
  • Click Close.
