How to Block a Domain in Windows Live Hotmail

By , About.com Guide

Windows Live Hotmail makes it easy to block messages by individual senders from showing up in your Hotmail Inbox. For even more blocking, you can put a ban on whole domains, too.

Block a Domain in Windows Live Hotmail

To block all mail coming from a domain in Hotmail:

  • Select Options | More Options... (or just Options if no menu comes up) from the Windows Live Hotmail toolbar.
  • Follow the Safe and blocked senders link under Junk e-mail.
  • Now click Blocked senders.
  • Type the undesired domain name — the domain being what comes after the '@' sign in an email address — under Blocked e-mail address or domain:.
  • Click Add to list >>.

If you enter "about.com", for example, all mail from fred@aboutguide.com, joe@aboutguide.com, jane@aboutguide.com and so on will be blocked from your Windows Live Hotmail inbox.
