How to Block a Domain in Windows Live Hotmail

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

Windows Live Hotmail makes it easy to block messages by individual senders from showing up in your Hotmail Inbox. For even more blocking, you can put a ban on whole domains, too.

Block a Domain in Windows Live Hotmail

To block all mail coming from a domain in Hotmail:

  • Select Options | More Options... (or just Options if no menu comes up) from the Windows Live Hotmail toolbar.
  • Follow the Safe and blocked senders link under Junk e-mail.
  • Now click Blocked senders.
  • Type the undesired domain name — the domain being what comes after the '@' sign in an email address — under Blocked e-mail address or domain:.
  • Click Add to list >>.

If you enter "about.com", for example, all mail from fred@about.com, joe@about.com, jane@about.com and so on will be blocked from your Windows Live Hotmail inbox.
