Confimax
Confimax makes it easy to receive return receipts as soon as the recipient opens a messages. Unfortunately, these receipts aren't guaranteed.

Fastbuzz News
Fastbuzz News lets you read RSS feeds in any browser anywhere with comfort and considerable power (you can subscribe to searches, for example), too. Fastbuzz News lacks some features -- folders and flagging, for example --, though, and doesn't feel fully refined.

SpamPal 1.53
SpamPal makes it easy to use spam blacklists with any email account. Bayesian and scoring filters add further spam protection. Unfortunately, many lists aren't as well-maintained as they should be.

textSOAP for Mac 3.3
textSOAP for Mac is a very useful and highly functional tool for properly formatted replies and forwards.

mailMaker 1.1.1
mailMaker is a simple and easy to use tool for group mailing and integrates with the Mac OS X address book and your favorite email client, but this very integration is also its biggest problem. Mailing larger groups is hard to do, and automatic personalization or advanced formatting are impossible in mailMaker.

RSS Bandit 1.2.0.61
RSS Bandit is a nice, simple feed reader that lets you browse news in an organized fashion. It serves as a great starting point, but currently lacks virtual folders, auto-purging and other useful features.

Shrook 1.33
Shrook is a clever RSS feed reader that displays and organizes news in a smart (and customizable) way. It's a pity Shrook lacks cross-channel searches and tools to put news in context.

SpamCop for Mail 1.3.1
SpamCop for Mail makes sending effective spam complaints dangerously easy in Mac OS X Mail (dangerous for spammers).

Lockergnome News Feeder
Lockergnome News Feeder makes it really simple and easy to follow news and web site updates via RSS feeds. Unfortunately, Lockergnome News Feeder lacks tools to organize feed items and can't do scheduled updates automatically.

MSN Hotmail
MSN Hotmail comes with great spam filtering, solid security features and a straight forward, easy to use yet quite powerful interface. It's great how MSN Hotmail integrates with Outlook and Outlook Express, but its tiny online mailbox size, the lack of POP access and no support for secure messaging are some drawbacks.

Pennock's Email Notifier 1.1-11
Pennock's Email Notifier notifies elegantly and previews usefully. Unfortunately, you can't do the latter selectively using filters, and PEN doesn't support IMAP accounts.

KidzMail 1.2
KidzMail is an easy to use email client geare towards kids. The option to create and send drawings in particular is a lot of fun. While generally kid-safe, KidzMail unfortunately doesn't support sender authentication.

eMail Verifier 1.3
eMail Verifier checks email addresses reliably, precisely and in bulk and cleans your mailing lists of undeliverably addresses. It's simple and easy to use, but some advanced features wouldn't be bad.

eMail Bounce Handler 1.3.1
Keep your mailing list clean of bouncing addresses easily with eMail Bounce Handler, a powerful and flexible, but still easy to use utility.

Netscape Mail Web-Based Email
Netscape Mail Web-Based Email is as simple and straight forward as a free email account gets. This makes Netscape Mail easy to use and accessible, but you'll miss many features -- filters and spam protection in particular.

Yahoo! Messenger 5.6
Yahoo! Messenger is a complete messaging solution that integrates text and voice messages, webcam video and chat rooms. IMVironments add some spice, fun, interactivity and advertising. It's a pity you can't talk to non-Y! Messenger-users, and Yahoo! Messenger's filtering as well as archiving capabilities are limited.

Opera M2 7.23
The Opera M2 email client is a slick and flexible interface to satisfy almost all your email needs. Some will miss even more search and organization power, though, and others the option to use HTML.

MrPostman 1.0.2
MrPostman offers a simple and useful interface to a number of webmail services (including Yahoo! Mail and Hotmail) that lets you download mail to your email client easily. MrPostman is limited to POP, though, and you can't specify which folders to download or send mail through MrPostman.

emailStripper 2.2
EmailStripper is really easy to use, and although it lacks sophisticated features usually produces great results cleaning up and fixing forwarded emails.

MSN Messenger for Windows 6.1
MSN Messenger for Windows is a feature-rich yet really easy to use instant messaging application that can also be great fun. It's a pity MSN Messenger uses a proprietary protocol, and custom filters (also against instant messaging spam) as well as secure messaging would be nice.

Pears 1.6
Pears is a simple, but functional RSS feed reader that gets you through the news in no time. It lacks some more advanced features (searching, filters, indexes), though.

eVerify 1.0
eVerify is a thorough, precise and powerful tool to check email addresses on mailing lists for validity. The method used to see if addresses are working is accurate, but it could possibly be made more efficient with pre-screening.

POP/IMAP Add-in for Messenger
The POP and IMAP Add-ins for Messenger add really useful email alerts for POP and IMAP accounts to Windows Messenger. Unfortunately, they both support only one account.

Eliminate Spam! 2.5
Eliminate Spam! is a fairly easy to use Outlook spam filter that applies a number of tests and blackhole lists to incoming mail. Unfortunately, Eliminate Spam! isn't all that precise and you have to maintain a white list of known senders to avoid false positives.

IzyMail Server 1.5
IzyMail Server turns Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail and AOL into highly useful, full-blown and flexible IMAP accounts, but it also lets you access these web-based email accounts via the more traditional POP protocol and any email client.
