Care2 E-mail - Free Email Service

The Bottom Line

Care2 E-mail provides solid free email with an environmental conscience. The spam filters and editing gimmicks in Care2 E-mail are nice, but so would be message search, IMAP access and smart folders.
Care2 E-mail is no longer available for creating new accounts.

  • A HTML editor, greeting cards and stationery add fun to your Care2 E-mail messages

  • You cannot search messages in Care2 E-mail or set up smart folders

Guide Review - Care2 E-mail - Free Email Service

Free web-based is paid for by the ads you see when you access your account. What if 10% of all the ad revenue went to a good cause (like a non-profit environmental organization)? Wouldn't that be great?

This is exactly what Care2 does with its free email service. This makes the missing option of POP (which is available for a fee) or IMAP access easier to bare, does it not? 100 MB of online storage is not extremely much, but a good starting point.

Care2 E-mail also works reliably, has the option to block all but "green" listed mail, and you can compose HTML messages (using simple stationery) or send greeting cards easily. It's a pity Care2 E-mail does not allow searching the message store or set up smart folders that would automatically collect certain messages.

Still, a solid free email service with a nice environmental twist.

Hopefully this is going to be exactly what I was looking for... It claims to donate 10% of its profits to environmental causes. Let's see how well it fares. Will repost an updated review here if it falls short of expectation...
