Turn Off Internet Explorer HTML Viewing in Eudora

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

By default, Eudora uses Internet Explorer to display emails with HTML formatting. This ensures proper display, but it also means a potentially heightened security risk and a certainly higher risk for privacy invasion as you cannot turn off remote images with Internet Explorer viewing turned on.

If you are not willing to take these risk, you can disable IE rendering and use Eudora's own crude but secure HTML viewer instead.

Turn Off Internet Explorer HTML Viewing in Eudora

To disable Internet Explorer HTML email viewing in Eudora:

  • select Tools | Options from the Eudora menu.
  • Go to the Viewing Mail category.
  • Make sure Use Microsoft's viewer is not checked.
  • Click OK.

Open Individual Emails in Your Browser

You can still enjoy the formatting a proper browser offers by sending individual emails from Eudora to your default browser.
