By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

If you have created a backup copy of your Eudora message rules in time nothing (or just about nothing) could be easier than restoring them. Similarly, retaining your filters when you move your Eudora installation to a new computer is simple.

Restore or Import Eudora Mail Rules from a Backup Copy

To import or recover your Eudora filters from a backup copy:

  • Open your Eudora folder in Windows Explorer.
  • If you find a Filters.pce file:
    • Click on it with the right mouse button.
    • Select Rename from the menu.
    • Type "Filters.pce.orig".
  • Now, go to the folder containing your Eudora mail rules backup.
  • Highlight the Filters.pce file.
  • Press Ctrl-C to copy it.
  • Return to your Eudora folder.
  • Press Ctrl-V to paste the Filters.pce file.
  • Start Eudora.
  • Select Tools | Filters from the menu to verify all the rules are where they belong.
    • If all is well, you can delete the Folders.pce.orig file from your Eudora folder.
