How to Back Up or Copy Your Eudora Email Filters

By Heinz Tschabitscher, About.com

Emails are often valuable, so I'm sure you are backing up your Eudora files frequently and when you get a new computer take care to take your mailboxes with you to the new Eudora installation.

But what about the carefully crafted and balanced set of filters you have set up in Eudora? Organizing your Inbox automatically, they are priceless, too. Is there a way to back up Eudora's filters or copy them to a new computer? You bet there is.

Back Up or Copy Your Eudora Email Filters

To create a backup copy of your Eudora email filters:

  • Go to your Eudora folder in Windows Explorer.
  • Select the Filters.pce file.
  • Press Ctrl-C to copy the file containing your filters.
  • Open the folder where you want to keep the backup (or temporary) copy of your Eudora mailbox files.
  • Press Ctrl-V to paste your Filters.pce file.

Of course, you can copy the Filters.pce file to the same directory you use for mailbox backups. No matter wherever you copied the file to, it's always easy to restore your Eudora filters from the backup.
